Buckeye CableSystem is no more as the Toledo, Ohio-based operator switched to a new brand – Buckeye Broadband – on June 1.
The service provider told The Blade that it’s still in the “cable” business, but that the brand reflects the need for it to keep its customers connected.
“We’re not changing Buckeye, but we have to identify what it actually is now, which is different than what it was in the 1960s, the 1970s, the 1980s, 1990s, and even the last few years, ” Allan Block, chairman of Block Communications, told The Blade.
Buckeye Broadband also heralded its new branding on Twitter.
We are now Buckeye Broadband. A new name, but the same great quality and customer service. #buckeyebroadband

Per The Blade, Buckeye Broadband is making the switch amid some broadband service upgrades, as its 9 Mbps tier gets bumped to 18 Mbps, and its 26 Mbps offering jumps to 50 Mbps.
The new branding is also entering play as the MSO rolls out a TiVo-powered platform that will feature a whole-home DVR option and integration of OTT services such as Netflix. Buckeye Broadband and TiVo, which is being acquired by Rovi, announced their deal in February, noting that the multi-screen offering will feature TiVo DVRs and thin clients, TiVo web, mobile and tablet apps. The operator will also rollout a new TiVo-based non-DVR hybrid (QAM/IP) device that will integrate linear TV, VOD and OTT content but will not include a CableCARD.
