Our typical day included checking in the equipment collected from our technicians, divvy out new work orders, and check the status of jobs that were currently open. Our office would usually have between 10 and 15 technicians buzzing around throughout the morning, and when they would leave to complete their work for the day, that was when our real work began.
We'd need to print upwards of 1200 work orders, assign them to each technician depending on the area, and sort them by date.
Then, we'd need to consolidate each piece of equipment brought in that morning, input that into the system, and remove them individually from each customers account.
It was small office as far as personnel went. There was one other data entry technician whom I had worked with previously, and our office manager. I enjoyed working with both of these individuals, as our personalities were similar and it kept the work environment quick moving, and fun.
The hardest part of the job was realizing you made a mistake 5 hours previously, and having to redo all the work you had completed since then. If it was a clerical error, such as transposing a digit, it would throw off the numbers for the day and end up being a huge headache.
The most enjoyable part of the job was that I actually looked forward to going to work in the morning. I knew I would enjoy seeing the office personnel as well as getting my work done for the day.
