–Time Warner Cable (TWC) customers in the San Antonio area will soon benefit from major enhancements that will transform their service as they know it today. This superior customer experience, dubbed “TWC Maxx, ” features ultra-fast Internet speeds, state-of-the-art TV services and best-in-class reliability.
Starting this week, customers will receive communications from TWC outlining the first phase of the project as the company begins the process of rolling out faster Internet with speeds up to six times faster than they currently receive. The faster Internet speeds will launch starting in March and will roll out to all customers in the San Antonio area by the end of July.
More than 75, 000 customers will receive the faster Internet speeds in the first phase of the roll out through the end of March. Areas in this first phase include:
- Balcones Heights
- China Grove
- Far North East side, including Thousand Oaks, Nacogdoches roads
- Huebner between I-10 and Bitters
- Kirby
- Pecan Valley
- Shavano Park
- Somerset
- South Side—west of I-35 between Highway 90 and Loop 410
- West Side, including areas around Woodlawn and Commerce streets
- Windcrest
“With ‘TWC Maxx, ’ we’re essentially reinventing the TWC experience, ” said Ike Wells, TWC’s regional vice president of operations for Texas. “We will boost Internet speeds for customers up to six times faster, add to San Antonio’s robust TWC WiFi©, dramatically improve the TV product and set a high bar in our industry for differentiated, exceptional customer service.”
TWC MAXX will be available to all customers in the San Antonio area including: Alamo Heights, Boerne, Brooks City Base, Bulverde, Canyon Lake, China Grove, Cibolo, Converse, Elmendorf, Fair Oaks Ranch, Fort Sam Houston, Garden Ridge, Grey Forest, Helotes, Kelly AFB, Kirby, Lackland AFB, Leon Valley, Live Oak, Marion, New Braunfels, Randolph AFB, San Antonio, Schertz, Seguin, Selma, Shavano Park, Somerset, Universal City, Von Ormy and Windcrest.
Along with TWC Maxx, Time Warner Cable will also roll out TWC WiFi Hotspots in the San Antonio area this year. The TWC WiFi Hotspots have already started deploying in small business locations that customers frequent like restaurants, cafes, hair salons and doctor’s offices. Outdoor locations will begin deployment towards the end of the first quarter.
The key components of TWC’s new customer experience are:
New Internet Experience for Residential Customers
The Internet transformation will begin starting March 2015 and will include speed increases on TWC residential Internet plans at no additional cost, with customers experiencing increases up to six times faster, depending on their current level of Internet service. For example, customers who subscribe to Standard, formerly up to 15 Mbps, will now receive up to 50 Mbps, customers who subscribe to Extreme, formerly up to 30 Mbps, will now receive up to 200 Mbps; and customers who subscribe to Ultimate, formerly up to 50 Mbps, will receive up to 300 Mbps, at no extra charge.
New TV Experience
The advanced TV experience includes an Enhanced DVR, which lets customers simultaneously record up to six different programs, and the ability to save 150 hours of high-definition (HD) programming on its 1TB (terabyte) hard drive, which is twice the storage of the largest prior model. Customers will also have access to an all-digital lineup and an expanded On Demand library that has reached 19, 000 titles and growing.
Rock-Solid Network Reliability
As TWC has committed to new network performance standards companywide, this initiative will include a stringent review and upgrade of every network connection site (referred to as hubs) to ensure optimum service levels are delivered to every neighborhood. Each TWC hub serves thousands of customers with TV, Internet and phone services.
